Peru

Young people within the Peruvian political parties have little access to information, trainings and education on different relevant issues leading to a low political participation among the youth. The situation is worsened by the fact that  Peru has an adult-centered culture and that rules and structures of the youth organizations within the parties aren't favoring an increased youth participation in politics. Young people also feel that other activities, like jobs or studies limit their time, resources and motivation from an active participation in the political life.

The project's starting point is  a decreasing participation of young people in politics within the political parties. The strengths and weaknesses of political organizations have been assessed by their relevant units throughout LFA meetings that drafted this project. Its objectives convey a particular interest in fostering incentive mechanisms for the participation of people under 30 years old in politics.

The current scenario involves different challenges concerning internal and external regulations, but there are a variety of efforts upon which to create more favorable conditions for the participation of the young in political parties.
